The main aim of this study is the adaptation from English to Turkish of “Motivations for Reading Questionnaire (MRQ)” which is prepared by Wigfield and Guthrie (1997); and making “validation” and “reliabilty” and “exploratory factor” analyses of this questionnaire. Descriptive method is used in this study. 357 student attended to the study who were studying in Malatya in the 2012- 2013 academic year, were chosen randomly from Barbaros, Sümer ve Atatürk Primary Schools’ 5, 6, 7 and 8. degree classrooms. Data were analyzed by SPSS 17.00 package programme. The reliability coefficient (Cronbach Alpha) for the whole survey was calculated as 0.904, at very high degree. Only 29 items were used in this study from 54 items of Motivations for Reading Questionnaire (MRQ). The factors were named “importance and care”, “competition”, “social environment”, “the type and qualification of the book”, respectively.
