Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate responses that children gave to their preschool teachers for the science questions that they wonder. In the direction of this aim, primarily the questions that children highly wonder about science are collected by one to one interviews with 54 children who continue their preschool education. The most curious questions by children are asked to 122 preschool teachers through interview forms created by researchers and the responses are analyzed with content analysis method. In the findings of the research, how teachers respond to the scientific questions that children wonder is analyzed under the thematic headings created as a result of the content analysis and the results are evaluated by accommodating the raw data taken directly from the teachers. In the direction of the results of the research, most of the preschool teachers participated in study conclude that children gave nonfactual answers or the answers consist of inadequate concepts and scientific explanations to the science questions that they wonder.
