Abstract

The importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education in schools has begun to increase with emerging technologies. Realizing this in developed countries, ICT education has started at earlier ages. In particular, developments in the field of software provide a strategic and economic contribution to the countries. Therefore, many countries have begun to give programming training at earlier ages and many programming training projects have been implemented in this regard. Turkey should give an important to ICT and programming education to participate in this race not only in terms of consuming the technology but also developing and producing to technology. This study aims to investigate the current state of ICT education in Turkey from perspectives of the innovations. In this context, how ICT education has emerged in Turkey, how ICT has been integrated into educational environment, the current state of ICT classes and technology infrastructure, the roles of ICT teachers, coordinators and guides in ICT education and FATİH project, the current state of the ICT curriculum were investigated. In conclusion, suggestions for ICT education are given.
