Abstract

Today, teachers’ roles have changed to a great deal with the constructivist approach that is the basis of our education system. According to this approach teachers help students construct new information on the present ones. This study aims to evaluate the primary teacher trainees’ teaching competence in terms of constructivism. Sample of the study (N:150) is made up of students who study Primary Teaching at İstanbul University in 2015-2016 academic year. The research is a descriptive study that involves simple scanning. “Teachers’ Competence Test about Constructivist Learning” which was developed by Karadağ (2007) was used. Karadağ (2007) mentioned that the Cronbach Alpha number of this scale was 0.793. As a result of this study, it was seen that primary teacher trainees are competent in terms of constructivist learning.
