Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to investigate the classroom teachers’ opinions about the extent to which the objectives of elementary school 2nd grade Play and Physical Course are achieved. The universe of the current study designed in survey model consists of 247 elementary school 2nd grade classroom teachers working in state schools located in the city of Konya and its provinces of Akşehir, Ereğli, Hadim and Taşkent in 2013-2014 school year. The sampling of the study is comprised of 60 2nd grade classroom teachers voluntarily completing the questionnaire administered in the Web environment. At the end of the study, it was found that the course of Play and Physical Activities is of great importance for the participating teachers. The 2nd grade classroom teachers were found to be of the opinion that it should not be important to assess students through grades for this course. Moreover, all of the teachers stated that support of the school management is important for the provision of equipments and tools needed for this course. It was also concluded that this course is properly taught by the teachers in such a way as to accomplish its objectives. Finally, it was found that the objectives stated in the curriculum of this course are suitable for the level of students and most of these objectives have been accomplished by students.
