TEN YEARS LATER THE CONSTRUCTIVIST PARADIGM IN TURKEY: A PHENOMENOLOGY RESEARCH GEÇEN ON YILIN ARDINDAN TÜRKİYE’DE YAPILANDIRMACI PARADİGMA: BİR OLGU BİLİM ARAŞTIRMASI
The purpose of this research is to determine the opinions of the science teachers about the constructivist paradigm. In this context, it was tried to determine how the participants perceived the constructivist approach and how they applied this approach in the teaching-learning process and what kind of problems they experienced during the applications. The study conducted for this purpose is a phenomenology which is designed based on the qualitative research paradigm. The sample of the study was consisted of three science teachers working in schools in Tomarza, city of Kayseri province at 2015-2016 spring educational term. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis technique. According to findings, it can be stated that science teachers describe the constructivist paradigm as a learning centered approach. In addition while participants reflected the constructivist paradigm to learning-teaching practices, they noted that they met students with some specific characteristics of the learning-teaching process, the classes were crowded and the problems arising from tools.
