Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the attitudes towards teaching principles and methods course of teacher candidates and in terms of some variables of these attitudes. For this purpose the “attitudes scale towards teaching principles and methods course” developed by researcher was administered on 309 teacher candidates who studying in different programs at Kafkas University Faculty of Education during 2016-2017 academic year. As a result of the findings obtained from the research, attitudes towards teaching principles and methods course of teacher candidates have been determined under the “need” subscale as ‘I agree’, under the “disregard” subscale as ‘I don’t agree’, under the “interest” subscale as ‘I undecided’. Besides, the gender (need and disregard subscale), type of program (all subscale of the scale), class level (interest subscale) and type of teaching (disregard subscale) variables have significant effect as statistic in research.
