THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS’ PSYCHOLOGICAL CAPITAL VALUES AND ETHICAL LEADERSHIP PROPERTIES

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between school administrators’'ethical leadership characteristics and psychological capital levels according to teachers’ perceptions. This study, conducted using the "survey" research method has 558 teachers’ samples. The school administrators’ sample of the research was created by 213 school administrators working in the same educational organizations as the participant teachers on the Istanbul Anatolian side. As the data collection tools of the research; the "Ethical Leadership Scale", adapted by Palalar (2008) and consists of three sub-dimensions; ethical and justice, the opening of tasks and roles, and the sharing of power and The "Psychological Capital" scale adapted by Çetin ve Basım (2012); consisting of optimism, hope, psychological endurance and self-efficacy subscales was used. Descriptive statistical methods and independent samples T test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson-Moments Multiplication Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis were used to determine the relational dimension between ethical leadership and psychological capital. According to research findings, it’s noteworthy that there is a weak correlation between ethical leadership's subscale of opening of tasks and roles and psychological capital's hope subscale, a negative correlation with self-efficacy, which is the sub-dimension of psychological capital, there is there is a weak negative correlation between psychological capital’s self-efficacy and power sharing dimension of ethical leadership.
