Abstract

This research examines whether the level of shyness, social skill straining prepared for junior high students 2nd grade students is effective in reducing the level of shyness.In this study, pretest-posttest control group design was used. Research in the experimental group, while applying social skill straining program developed by the authors; The control group did not receive any training. Working group of the research, the academic year 2014-2015 in Malatya Yakınkent ISE Middle School 6th grade students from the high level of shyness, has created 22 students. Cheek collecting research data (1990) and developedby Güngör (2001) study conducted by the Turkish adaptation of "Shyness Scale (NPM)" is used. Experimental and control groups is a significant difference between levels of shyness or not it is inside test, Mann-Whitney U-test groups to compare themselves to theWilcoxon signed-rank test was used. As a result, a significant reduction was observed shyness social skills of students participating in the educational level of shyness. This program shyness and made about social skills, theoretical and experimental work to experts working in this field (counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists and other workers) as well as to contribute are expected to encourage later shyness about new studies.
