Abstract

This study aims to determine 60-72-month-old preschool children relationship between the emotional skill levels and problem behaviors. The research has been planned relational survey method. The sample of the study consisted of 494 preschool children,who ages of 60-72 months. and sample selected from Uskudar, Istanbul. The scales used in the study are "The Assesment of 6-year-old-Children’s Emotional Skill Test (ACES)" and "The Preschool and Kindergarten Behavior Scales (PKBS-2)". The Preschool and Kindergarten Behavior Scales includes two different subscales named "Social skills" and "Problem Behavior Scale" and in this study, "Problem Behavior Scale" was used. An information form was prepared by researher for demographic data of the children and their families.The findings were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis. The obtained data have been resolved by a statistic program on computer, the significance level has been tested as minimum p <,05. According to research findings; there is a negative correlation between problem behaviors and emotional skills of 60-72-month-old preschool children. Problem behaviors decrease as the children's emotional skill points increase.
