THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS PERSONALITY AND JOB SATISFACTION

Abstract

The purpose of this rosearch is the relationship between personality traits and job satisfaction of primary and secondary school teachers. The study group of the research subject of the relational search constitutes 7.371 teachers working in 295 official primary schools and secondary schools in the central districts of Konya province in the 2012-2013 acedemic year. The “Personal Information Form” prepared by the researchers were collected using “Adjective Based Personality Test” prepared by Bacanlı and friend (2007) and “Job Satisfaction Scale” developed by Spector (1985). Different inferential analyzes such as aritmetic mean, standard deviation, t test, Pearson correlation, one way variance analysis and ANOVA were performed on collected data (p<0.5). According to the results obtained, the personality traits and job satisfaction of primary and secondary school teachers were sometimes low, positive and meaningful; and sometimes a low, negative, and meaningful relationship. However, there was a high, negative and significant relationship between the responsibility subscale of personality traits and the wage subscale of job satisfaction.
