Abstract

In this study, effects of book writing activity on students' motivation levels in Desktop publishing education were investigated. The study is a quasi- experimental, unequal control group model. The research was carried out with a total of 114 learners participated in the 5th grade of the 2017-2018 spring semester, studying at a public school in the Adana Province Yüreğir District. In this research; it was applied over a total of 20 hours during a nine-week period. Two groups, experiment and control, were determined by random sampling. During the implementation process, fort he experimental group CAE (Computer Aided Education) supported curriculum with book publishing activity was applied and for the control group, CAE based traditional education was applied. In order to gather the research data, the Motivation Scale for Desktop Publishing Education was developed with support of expert opinions. According to the results of the research, there was a significant difference between the motivation levels of the students in experiment and control groups in favor of the experimental group. There was a significant difference between the pretest posttest motivation levels of the students in the experiment group in favor of posttest. However, as for gender variable, there is no significant difference between motivation levels
