Abstract


DETERMINATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ PERCEIVED VALUES ON ‘HELPFULNESS’ THOUGH DRAWINGS
Helpfulness is providing opportunities to the ones in need with no thought of a personal gain. Particularly this value is a value which should be taught beginning from primary school years and be emphasized. It has an importance in terms of creating a culture of living together as a whole for the future generations. At this point, children’s perception of the value of helpfulness, which should play an important role in the child’s life has come into prominence. In this research study, that has used phenomenology as a qualitative research method, it has been aimed to examine how the 4th-grade students' perception of helpfulness is reflected in drawings. The study has been conducted on the 2016-2017 academic year. The study group has consisted of 4th-grade students (18 students) who are chosen by considering the transportation and study opportunities. The data of the study has been collected by using drawing and interviewing techniques together. In the research study, the data collected through the drawing technique has been analyzed through the content analysis method and the data collected through the interviews has been analyzed through the descriptive analysis method.
