Abstract


EXAMINING RIFAT ILGAZ’S WORK OF “HALİME KAPTAN” IN TERMS OF VALUES EDUCATION
The aim of this search is to analyse the book of Rıfat Ilgaz named ‘Halime Kaptan’ which is suggested to be taught in primary schools and involved as one of the 100 masterpiece. In this study, document analysis technique which is one of the qualitative research methods was used to collect data. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. Phrases about values which are determined by the Ministry of Education in 2018 to be gained for students of primary schools such as “Justice-fair, responsibility, diligence, authenticity-honesty, tolerance, compassion, self- confidence, patience, love, benevolence-solidarity, hospitality, loyalty and patriotism” are determined and given under the title of relevant value by interpreting. When the findings are analyzed; in the book of ‘Halime Kaptan’ patriotism is mostly involved and followed by helpfulness, responsibility, love, respect, honesty, self-control and justice. loyalty, benevolence-solidarity, authenticity-honesty, justice-fair, diligence, self-confidence, responsibility, tolerance, compassion and patience. The values of friendship and patience were not found. It has been observed that the work has a rich content considering the determined values.
