Abstract


EXAMINING THE STRATEGIC PLANNING APPLICATIONS WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP: A STUDY IN PRE-SCHOOLS
The purpose of this study is to examine the opinions of pre-school teachers on strategic leadership characteristics of their school principals and strategic planning applications in their schools and the relationship between strategic leadership characteristics of pre-school principals and strategic planning applications in their schools. The sample of the study consists of 318 pre-school teachers working in Gaziantep province. Data of the study were collected through scales related to the strategic leadership and strategic planning applications in schools. Competency levels of strategic leadership characteristics of pre-school principals and strategic planning applications in their schools were determined by using mean scores. Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were performed to examine the relationships between strategic leadership characteristics and strategic planning applications. As a result of the study, it is found that there is a significant relationship between strategic leadership and strategic planning applications and strategic leadership is a significant predictor of strategic planning applications. Based on the findings of the study, it is suggested that school principals should give more importance to team work and social networking as part of their strategic leadership with the purpose of providing participation of teachers in strategic planning processes in pre-schools.
