Abstract

Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between childhood abuse of mothers with children aged 3-6 and their potential to abuse their children emotionally, with the structural equation model. Mothers with children aged 3-6 years residing in Konya constitute the universe of this study. The method of the study is the relational screening model. In this direction, the Structural Equation Model was studied. As the measurement model, confirmatory factor analysis based on the highest likelihood method was used. Data were obtained using the Emotional Abuse Potential Scale for Parents of 3-6 Years-old Children and the Childhood Trauma Scale (CTQ-28). Study data were analyzed with SPSS (21.0) and LISREL (8.0) programs. As a result of the study, it was found that the presence of childhood traumas of the mother decreases the potential for emotional abuse of her child, while increasing preventive behaviors in order not to abuse her emotionally.
