Abstract

The changes and developmants of today have brought along the necessity of individuals to have some skills. These skills, called as21st century skills, are considered as 13 skills under 3 main headings as “Learning and Innovation Skills ”,“ Knowledge, Media and Technology Skills ” and “ Life and Career Skills ”. The aim of this study is to examine the perception of proficiency of 21st century skills of secondary school teachers in terms of different variables such as gender and professional seniority. The population of the study consists of 86 teachers working in secondary schools in 2018-2019 academic year. The research is a descriptive study in screening model. In the research, “21. Century Proficiency Perception Scale ”was used as data collection tool. Obtained data were used for independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance for frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and intergroup comparisons. As a result It was concluded that teachers' perceptions of competence regarding 21st century skills were high.
