Abstract

Sciences lesson used to be included in primary and secondary schools 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade programs, and as of 2014-2015 academic year, this lesson is included in the 3rd grade program as well. The purpose of the present research is evaluating sciences lesson included in primary school 3rd grade program for the first time, based on 3rd grade teachers, who are the implementers of the lesson. In accordance with this purpose, 126 3rd grade teachers, randomly selected among teachers working in central districts of Konya province were interviewed with an interview form, which consists of 7 open-ended questions. According to the obtained findings, teachers think that including sciences lesson in the 3rd grade program is appropriate, and their most important problem is the lack of a teacher’s book for the lesson, a student workbook and experiment equipment. Teachers also stated that, sciences lesson attainments were appropriate for student level, and related with daily life.
