VIEWS OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS ON THE USE OF DRAMA METHOD IN SCIENCE COURSE ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ FEN BİLİMLERİ DERSİNDE DRAMA YÖNTEMİNİN KULLANILMASINA YÖNELİK GÖRÜŞLERİ
Due to the constructivist approach, courses that are away from rote, fun, about life and useable are considered important. Therefore, being the teachers of the future, pre-service science teachers need to follow new educational approaches and methods. Drama method is one of them. In this research, it was aimed to identify the views of 4th grade 60 pre-service teachers (30 females, 30 males) of three universities in different regions of Turkey towards instruction of science course via drama in 2011-2012 academic year. For this aim, interview form regarding instruction of science course via drama was developed by the researchers and conducted to participants. Hence, phenomenology was applied in the study. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Looking at the data, it was determined that pre-service teachers had the view that if it is applied effectively, drama makes it easier to understand science concepts, and improves retention, communication skills and creativity.
