Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine parents’ beliefs about mathematics course, to what extend are parents aware of mathematics education process of children in school and to what extend they support their children’s math learning through their lives. In the present study, survey method was used and data were gathered through an instrument developed by the researcher. The sample of the study involved 229 parents of students chosen randomly from 1st -8th grades in İzmir at the end of the academic year 2014-2015. The results indicates that the parents have high expectations of teachers in mathematics learning process. Generally, awareness, involvement, support and positive attitudes of the parents has decreased, on the other hand, fallow the level of success is seen more often.
