Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the curriculums of the philosophy group courses (sociology, psychology, and logic) being implemented as of 2016-2017 mention the Turkish scientists that have contributed to the scientific areas of these courses. Within this framework, the curriculums pertaining to these three courses have been examined. The examination showed that the curriculums of the courses of sociology and psychology included only a brief introduction in the first units, and that the logic course did not include any introduction in any way. It was observed that the same situation was reflected to a significant extent in the textbooks prepared in accordance with the curriculums of the courses. In general, it was concluded that the three curriculums did not sufficiently introduce the Turkish scientists, and it was explained in detail, as a proposed solution to these problems in the curriculums, what should be done, which scientists should be mentioned, and why. It is considered that upon the fulfillment of the recommended arrangements, the curriculums will be more interesting, more helpful in conveying the cultural knowledge, and more fitting to give the students a sense of belonging to the area.
