Abstract

This study, which is done in order to identify the problems encountered in the singing students is a scanning model intended to identify the status. Population and sampling cover all students who major singing at the 12 conservatories in the academic year 2014-2015 in Turkey. The data of 368 students have been evaluated by applying the Turkish version of the index ,for the validity and reliability of Singing Voice Handicap Index, firstly to 73 female and 44 male, a total of 117 students from four universities, and then to 129 female and 122 male, a total of 251 students in order to determine the singing voice problems of singing students. The differences and the relationship among the SVHI values have been analyzed according to the level of voice problem, age, gender and class variables of the students who participated in the study. As a result of the study, significant differences were found in functional voice problems by gender (P=.022<.05). Functional voice problems in women are higher than in men. There was no difference between the sexes for other types of points (P> .05). According to age groups, in terms of functional voice problems point among scores, significant differences between the 21-23 age groups were found (P = 0.005 <0.05). There was no significant difference according to grade level.
