Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the views of the teachers towards the teacher leadership and to give suggestions. Phenomenology, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study and the study group of the research was selected by the easily accessible case sampling method. Research data was obtained via semi-structured interview form from 21 teachers working in different branches in İstanbul province in 2015-2016 academic year. The interviews were executed by face to face. In the content analysis, “teacher leaders’ features”, “roles expected from teacher leaders”, “benefits of teacher leadership”, “problems in the expansion of teacher leadership and solution proposals for these problems” and “features of schools that support teacher leadership” themes were reached.
