A sample of 48-72 month old 208 children from 16 schools in Istanbul participated in the study. Turkish form of PCQ consisted of 17 items like in the original scale. Confirmatory factor analysis results supported the original 3 factor structure. These factors are ‘Other-Referenced Competition’, ‘Task-Oriented Competition’ and ‘Maintenance of Dominance Hierarchy’. The Cronbach alpha coefficients varied between 0.91 and 0.96. The test-retest coefficients varied between 0.85 and 0.95. Corrected item-total correlations ranged from 0.68 to 0.90. Goodness of fit indices of confirmatory factor analysis indicated a good fit between the original model and data (?2/sd=3.01, RMSEA= 0.099, SRMR=0.08, CFI=0.97, NNFI=0.97, NFI=0.96).
