Abstract

The urban transportation areas are the leading among the principal factors which effect the children in the age of education the most at the urban outdoor. The transportation, is not only the most important factor for reaching to the urban activities but also the main factor causing to the social exclusion. The fact that the urban transportation networks are only for the adults, could cause the children to be socially excluded in terms of transportation. The objective of this research; is examining the social exclusion of the children of education era based on the transportation, providing the secure transportation opportunities for the children of 07-14 ages, developing suggestions for resolving the social exclusion. 2 grade schools have been chosen as the samples for the research (İhsan Özkaşıkçı Grade School, Niyaz Usta Grade School) at the Konya city center. Interviews with the school administrators and students and observations at the sample site were carried out in order to determine the transportation based social exclusion of the children of education era. As a result of the conducted observations and interviews, the elements causing the social exclusion of the children of education era based on the transportation are determined and in line with the obtained findings suggestions are developed for avoiding the social exclusion.
