Abstract

Individuals with autism spectrum disorders may be placed in different educational environments depending on their characteristics and needs. One of these environments is the inclusion training environments. They can participate in YGS and LYS exams made by ÖSYM as their peers in primary school, middle school and high school. They are placed in a higher education program according to the preferences they have achieved. In addition, autistic individuals who complete vocational technical high school secondary education are placed in an associate degree program by taking advantage of the pass without examination according to their fields. However, these individuals may face some problems related to their preparation, registration, enrollment, teaching process, measurement and evaluation processes. The aim of this study is to identify the problems and expectations of the autistic individuals and their families that attend college. In the study, data were collected by semi-structured interview form. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. The result of the research revealed that the teaching staff, mentors and other employees who are still in higher education have no knowledge of autistic individuals.
