Abstract

Aim of this research is to evaluate classroom teachers’ opinions relating to teaching profession. This research’s study group consists 36 classroom teachers working in Diyarbakır in 2016-2017 educational year. Qualitative research method is used in this research. Research’s data was gatheredby using semi-structured interview form and all of the gathered data is content-analysed. According to the results of the research, the main reasons of teachers’ negative opinions relating to teaching profession can be listed as; low-paid salary, discredit in society, working under difficult conditions. Besides, the main reasons of having positive opinions can be listed as; favorable working hours and its being suitable for women.
