Abstract

This study aims to investigate reading anxiety of gifted children studying at secondary school according to different variants. For this puspose, the “Reading Anxiety Scale for Secondary School Students”, which was developed by Melanlıoglu (2014) and includes 14 items, was used. The study group was 35 secondary school students studying at Mus Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi (BİLSEM)- Mus Science and Art Center. Scanning method was used. The data were collected with the participation of the researcher at the school the gifted students were studying in 2018-2019 education year, fall semester. The data were analyzed by SPSS using Windows 22.0 program. It was concluded that the reading anxiety of the students was at “medium level” and differed significantly depending on the class level, gender, father’s and mother’s education level, socioeconomic level, school type and the BİLSEM Program studied at.
