The purpose of this study is to identify the mistakes made by Grade 5 students while converting a fraction to a decimal representation and a decimal representation to a fraction and to make some suggestions depending on these determinations. In this study, case study method which is one of the patterns of qualitative approach was used. 55 fifth grade students were selected as samples, who were studying in a secondary school in the second semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, in a province in the north of Turkey. In this study, 12 open-ended questions about the conversion of fractions into decimal representations and the conversion of decimal representations into fractions were used. In the analysis of the data, content analysis method was used. As a result of this study, it can be said that students made more mistakes especially when converting fractions to decimal notations.
