Umutsuzluk ve Kaygının Kariyer Yapma İsteğine Etkisi: Turizm Eğitimi Almakta Olan Öğrenciler Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract
Turizm eğitimi alan öğrencilerin sektörde kariyer yapma istekleri çeşitli faktörlerden etkilenmektedir. Umutsuzluk ve kaygı öğrencilerin kariyer kararlarını etkileyen psikolojik faktörlerdendir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, turizm alanında eğitimlerine devam eden öğrencilerin sektörde kariyer yapma isteklerine ilişkin umutsuzluk ve kaygı düzeylerinin etkisini anlamaktır. Bu amaca ulaşmak için nicel bir araştırma tasarımı kullanılmış ve teorik olarak sunulan model ve varsayımlar ilişkisel yöntem kullanılarak test edilmiştir. Araştırmada veriler anket tekniği ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu (n=300) Selçuk Üniversitesi Turizm Fakültesi öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada betimsel istatistiklere ek olarak, öğrencilerin umutsuzluk ve kaygı duygularının kariyer yapma istekleri üzerindeki etkisini hesaplamak için regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda öğrencilerin turizm sektöründe iş bulma konusunda kararsız oldukları söylenebilir (x̄ =3.01). Ayrıca öğrencilerin umutsuzluk ve kaygı düzeylerinin sektörde kariyer yapma isteklerini olumsuz yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları çerçevesinde eğitim kurumlarına yönelik olası öneriler tartışılmıştır.

Abstract
The decisions of students studying tourism regarding making a career in the industry are influenced by various factors. Among these factors, hopelessness and anxiety are psychological factors that effect students. The objective of this study is to understand the impact of hopelessness and anxiety levels on students continuing their education in tourism, regarding their willingness to make a career in the sector. To accomplish this objective, a quantitative research design was employed, and theoretically presented model and assumptions were tested using the relational method. The data in the study were obtained by the questionnaire technique. Students of the Tourism Faculty in Selcuk University constitute the sample group of the study (n=300). In the study, in addition to descriptive statistics, regression analysis was done to calculate the impact of students' anxiety and hopelessness feelings on their willingness to make a career. Following the analysis, it can be said that the students are undecided about getting a job in the tourism industry (x̄ =3.01). Additionally, it was discovered that the students' feelings of hopelessness and anxiety had a detrimental impact on their desire to pursue a career in the industry. Within the framework of the research results, possible suggestions for educational institutions are discussed.
