Abstract

The most important agenda of the human beings is the environment on the global scale. For this reason, environmental education is an important part of education. Societies are shaped by education and move away from negative behaviors towards positive behaviors. In this study, it was aimed be examined the environmentally responsible citizenship levels of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in terms of some variables. The sample of the study consists of 1500 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades who receive education in the districts of Kocasinan, Melikgazi and Talas in Kayseri. province. The personal information form developed by Özden (2011) and the environmentally responsible citizens behavior scale (ÇSVDÖ) were used in the study. The personal information form consists of 10 items and the environmentally responsible citizens scale consists of 27 items. The reliability of the applied scale was found to be .903. As a result, it was determined that secondary school students have significant differences in environmentally responsible citizen behavior levels in terms of variables such as grade level, gender, academic achievement, father’s education level, membership of environmental organizations and environmental clubs, participation in environmental activities.
